Genetic diversity of Ethiopian barley (Hordeum vulgare L.) genotypes based on multivariate statistical analysis for acid soil tolerance

Soil acidity is now a serious threat to barley production in most high lands of Ethiopia. Three hundred twenty (320) genotypes were evaluated 2017 main-season, at Holeta Agricultural Research Center using 20x16 Alpha Lattice design under two-soil conditions (limed and unlimed). The objectives the study evaluate genetic variability among for soil tolerance multivariate analysis. Barley classified into thirteen, sixteen twelve clusters unlimed limed condition by stress index cluster analysis, respectively. Principal component analysis exhibited 81% 78% total variation Phenotypic diversity was very ear attitude, kernel row number Kernel color comparatively low spike density.
